Good item October 14, 2007 B. Nicholson (Columbia, Ms) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A little hard to put the chuck in but all in all for some one just starting out in wood working it does what i wanted it to. Not bad for the price.
Wilton 99170 Drill Press February 24, 2006 Raul C. Moore (Dallas, TX USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
All in all this is a great drill press. Easy to put together runs very smooth no vibration. The only problem I have with this is that the Amazon spec and the Wilton spec show this drill press to come equipped with a 1/2 hp motor, the manual however shows it to be equipped with a 1/4 hp motor. The motor has no label or documentation on it but it is smaller than the 1/3 hp motor on the drill press at my work place.
not bad for what it is and what it cost February 6, 2006 Ben Strand (Centerville, Minnesota) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Bought this about 1 year ago. Never had a drill press before but I am not overly disappointed in it. Small drill press limits uses but for the average homeowner or small time woodworker it is sufficient. Assembly was a bit lengthy and changing belt grooves to change speed is a bit annoying but again you have to take in to account frequency of use and money spent and it balances itself. Installing chuck was a nightmare but it works good enough now. I'd probably go a little bigger next time and a electronic speed change vs belt.
"No Name" October 2, 2005 Jim (Corpus christi, tx) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was a bit hesitant to purchase this item since it is kinda a no name in the world of Jet, Delta.... But I did and thus far have not been disappointed. It has a nice smooth chuck, easy to tighten and seems to run true. The Table provided is substantial and makes a good base for add-on drill press tables for increased precision. The built in work light is nice, can be a little awkward since it is located directly behind the chuck assembly, throws a little bit of a shadow on the front of the work but not too bad. The speed changes are easy and the belt seems to tighten securely. The handles for lowering operate smoothly and the depth stop is acceptable. I found that the depth stop does need some watching and care that you don't apply too much pressure or it can slip. No problem with this if you pay attention and be sure to tighten it enough and watch and stop as soon as it's stop point is reached. It is quiet and runs smoothly. Never owned a big name press to compare. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the stop mechanism and the light issue. Neither of which would stop me from buying this drill again.
