I totally agree with the above review. This impact driver is the best ive seen on the market. Ive done my research as well and couldnt find anything out there better than this impact driver. The 5 star rating is for the impact driver batts and charger and case.
The kit is perfect and has selectable power- which I rarely use since Ive learned how to use its power with the trigger pull.
The drill driver is another story. Comparing it to lets say the dewalt 14.4 - it sucks! The dewalt is soooo much more powerful and just built better. The drill is really for small jobs around the house or for wood working. To be honest the only time i ever used it was for drilling a hole which needed to be done with care otherwise i wouldve ripped the hole with the impact driver. The other time i used the drill was because i needed the clutch for a sensitive item. Thats really what this drill is good for- little jobs that require care.
Panasonic has a great impact driver but really nonething else :(
If your looking for one kit since you dont want a dozen different chargers than go dewalt or makita - they are really the best bang for the buck. Well enough of the should be better drill.
The impact driver just rocks! Everyone i show it to is very impressed with its look and feel! the driver even has a low weight! I could work with it all day just fine.
The led light on it is okay untill you need the light to shine into a hole- that wouldnt work with this unit since the light is located on the bottom. It has selectable power which does come in handy- Almost like a digital clutch. Its belt hook works great i never had worried about it falling off me. The battery lasts LONG! I really never had killed two batteries back to back. They also have lights on them or on the driver telling you about the remaining charge life left. Like i said before its feels perfect in my hand. the case is very nice and looks like it could take a beating. The only thing i cant comment about is if this thing took a fall would it still work? Im not sure - i did drop it from maybe 2 or 3 feet and it was fine but im not sure about maybe a 10 foot drop.
Oh and the best part is the driver motor is BRUSHLESS :)
If your looking for a really good impact driver this is it.

I am a licensed, professional home repair contractor and tools are something I make a living with. Buying tools that break down and do not do the job I need them for end up costing me time as well as money. The Panasonic 14.4-Volt Impact Driver is superior to any other impact/driver I have ever used. I own a Hitachi as well as a Makita and they cannot perform even half as well as this Panasonic. I've done my research and every consumer product rating agency out there has rated these Panasonic drill drivers superior to their competitors and now I know why. Their speed is adjustable, with or without a light illuminating the business end of the tool as well as consistent power to to the job when you need it. Plus it also has a dial telling you how much power you have left on a charge. Which means you don't have to get to the top of an extension ladder or inside of a crawl-space to learn your battery charge has expired. Take it from this professional, you won't be sorry with this tool. As a bonus in this kit (ECY142B) you also get a drill driver and a flashlight and if you order before October 15, 2008 you can also send for a free third battery.
