Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
These powerful and precise new routers give you the upper hand in all but the heaviest of cuts. The BodyGrip design is a comfortable over-molded rubber grip wrapped around the base with an adjustable handstrap that allows for left and right-handed operation, and two over-molded palm-grip side handles for superior comfort, maneuverability and control. The exclusive linear depth adjustment features a large steel motor lock lever and depth adjustment gearing via a durable threaded screw integral to the motor itself. Both coarse and microfine adjustments are fast and accurate. The router sub-base includes a special access hole for a common 3/8in. hex extension wrench for above-the-table depth adjustments, ideal for router table applications and eliminating the nuisance of reaching beneath table to set the cutter (or bit) height. This revolutionary system simplifies this once tedious process required with other designs and ensures that the switch and cord remain in the same optimal location.

Amazon.com Product Description
Get the upper hand with Milwaukee's BodyGrip routers. These exceptional tools feature the industry's first tactile handgrip designed into the base of the router, a fast, accurate linear depth adjustment system, a patented above-the-table depth adjustment mechanism, and a carrying case with integral RouterStation.

Featuring a 1-3/4 maximum horsepower (11 Amp, 24,000 rpm) Milwaukee motor, this powerful and precise router gives you the upper hand in all but the heaviest of cuts. The BodyGrip design is a comfortable overmolded rubber grip wrapped around the base with an adjustable hand strap that allows for left and right-handed operation, and two overmolded palm-grip side handles for superior comfort, maneuverability and control.

The router sub base includes a special access hole for a common 3/8 inch hex extension wrench for above-the-table depth adjustments, which makes it ideal for router table applications and eliminating the nuisance of reaching beneath the table to set the cutter (or bit) height. This revolutionary system simplifies this once tedious process required with other designs and ensues that the switch and cord remain in the same optimal location.

For the router user who prefers a trigger control, Milwaukee has created this D-handle version (5619-20). This unit features a durable glass-filled nylon handle with comfortable cushion-grip and a trigger switch with special lock-on button for continuous, effortless operation.

5 out of 5 stars great router   September 8, 2008
Eric Remington
I have only had this router for a month or so now, but so far everything has been working smoothly and I am impressed with the quality of all the Milwaukee tools I have so far. I bought this router based on its high praise and it has lived up to all the acclaim.

I bought this router after reading alot of reviews about it. Seems everyone was impressed with it. So am I. Smooth, powerful, and fun to use.

5 out of 5 stars One of the BEST   August 16, 2002

I have several routers (Proter Cable, Hatachi, Bosch, DeWalt and Ryobi) ranging in Hp from 1 1/2 - 3 1/4. Each of these routers have outstanding features, but the one I would rate over all is the Milwaukee D and the Body comfort models.

When it comes to control these two routers give the feeling of complete control over what you are doing. The startup is smooth and the power is above average.

I would recommend both of these routers highly.

Well done Milwaukee...

I had been looking for a "D" handle router and was in the process of deciding on the Bosch or the Makita when I came across Milwaukee's router. Both of the previous two have good reputations, and I'm sure I would have been happy with either, but what caught my eye was the features on the Milwaukee... and it didn't hurt that it was several dollars cheaper. My primary reason for wanting the "D" handle is that I prefer having that motor switch right at my fingertips.

One feature I like, is that the base is tightened down to the motor, or loosened, with a metal lever that snaps open and closed. This is easier than twisting a knob, and once closed, you have a positive lock. (yes, I have failed to tighten a knob securely enough on another router and had the base come loose while operating it). Removal of the base is done by pressing a button and sliding the motor out of the base. "Coarse" adjustments are made the same way. A knob is provided on the top side for making fine adjustments. Though the adhustment is not a fine as on my plunge router, I find it to work very well. The collets require 2 wrenches to install bits, and the wrenches provided are the forged type rather than stamped metal, a definite plus.

All in all this router is a pleasure to use, and my past experience with Milwaukee service has been very good.
