Great saw if you are Right Handed September 23, 2008 K. D. Payne (Chattanooga) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My husband has been in construction for ages, he's a carpenter and we have recently started a construction company. He needed a few new tools for the hotel he's currently building so this saw was one of a few purchases we made from Amazon.
The saw works wonderfully, and cuts exactly what it is supposed to cut, I WOULD give this saw 5 stars, if either my husband or myself were right handed (not that I plan on using it much). The problem for those of us who are lefties is that the blower blows the sawdust directly into your face, no getting around it. We've basically handed this saw off to our right handed saw guy to use. I am sure that somewhere out there Makita makes a left handed version, but in the meantime we're out shopping for a different saw.
If you are right handed, this is an excellent saw for the money and has held up well for both a school remodel and building a 4 story hotel so far. Just beware if you are left handed that you should try to either find a left handed model, or get a different saw.
Another random note - If you order from amazon, you will have to have a person at home to sign for the delivery. It wasn't a problem for us, but you should know since amazon doesn't have that listed anywhere.
Second Makita saw August 30, 2008 R. C. Wesner (NorCal) This is the second Makita circular saw I have purchased. The 1st one is still going strong after 12 years. This saw is lighter and easier to use than its predecessor with good power. Only issue I have is that all the circular saws I have used seem to blow the sawdust all over you and this one is no exception. Other than that, very good saw for the money.
great saw July 31, 2008 Sonny (nc United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
i have used makita saws ever since they came to America in the early 80's.
This is the best yet.
Great saw at a great price July 29, 2008 James Peterson (Savannah, GA) A very well refined saw. tough, accurate, good weight (not too heavy), good power (but not as strong as some others: milwaulkee, dewalt) easy adjustments, very nice arbor lock, replacable motor brushes. I'll report back after a couple years on durability. But as others have posted, this is a top quality saw.
